Restorations address many of
the issues related to photographic deterioration, usually due to age, wear, environmental conditions, fading from sunlight,
and a number of other issues. As
the word itself implies, the goal of a restoration is to “restore” a photograph to its original state, quality,
condition, or appearance, which often involves correcting the color, removing stains, tears, creases, or other
damage, etc.
The quality of the restoration
is contingent upon the photograph provided. For best results, the original image needs to be visible, or
easily ascertained, in order to rebuild what is damaged. Restorations run $60.00.
They generally take several hours to complete under the best circumstances. The turn around time varies depending
on our current work load and what needs to be done to the photograph. Generally speaking, we try to have them done
the same day, but it can take several days, or even a few weeks, to finish a restoration if the damage is especially
bad.
